What type of person sails on Panache Sailing?
Every type of person! Youngsters, seniors, experienced sailors or people who have never been on a catamaran... We pride ourselves on making everybody feel “at home” at Panache. It is a very stable boat with shaded areas available so all of our guests, including individuals with physical challenges, are sure to feel comfortable and safe during their trip.
How long are the tours?
The morning tour leaves at 8:30 am and returns at 12:30 pm (4 hours). The afternoon tour leaves at 2:00 pm and returns after sunset (4+ hours).
What should I bring with me?
Bring a towel, sunscreen, swimsuit, sunglasses, hat, and a smile. A cash tip for the crew would be greatly appreciated. We provide all snorkel gear, flotation aids and life jackets.
Is the transportation to and from our hotel included?
We have a free shuttle that runs from Tamarindo to Flamingo. We do not have this service in other areas but we can arrange it for larger groups. Please call for details.
Where do we board the Catamaran to begin the tour?
Our catamaran is anchored in Flamingo next to the old Flamingo Marina, at the far South West corner of Playa Potrero. This location is 200 meters east of the CPI (STV) Spanish school in Flamingo. A Panache representative will greet you at our meeting spot, a clearing near the main road with our sign overhead, to get you checked in for the tour.
Do I get wet?
Only if you want to! The area in the back of our catamaran is completely protected from the sun and water. You may get some spray on you when you venture out onto the sunbathing trampolines at the front of the boat, which typically feels very refreshing given how warm the water is here in Costa Rica. All water-based activities such as snorkeling and sea kayaking are optional; you are welcome to relax aboard the catamaran for the entire duration of the trip. If you do decide to get wet, we offer an outdoor fresh water shower to wash off the salty ocean water.
I don’t snorkel. What is there for me to do?
We offer two Sea Kayaks for you to explore the cove where others will be snorkeling. We also have flotation “noodles” for leisurely swimming, or you could walk on the beautiful beaches and take in the sights of the secluded coastal location where we anchor. Staying on the boat with a cool drink in your hand is always an option!
Is there a bathroom aboard?
Yes. We have a bathroom below deck and a private changing area.
Where do you go for the snorkeling?
Depending on the weather and water conditions we will go to 1 of 6 different locations, each offering a unique snorkel experience. No matter where we end up there will be a large variety of Tropical fish and sea life for you to encounter.
Will I get seasick?
We use a specially designed catamaran that provides a smooth, stable sailing experience. Because of this, we have had very few guests get seasick on our trips. Our boats simply don’t roll around like single hulled boats typically do. Our non-rolling catamaran is especially nice while we are at anchor in a cove, enjoying snacks and drinks.
Will you have a trip if it rains?
Yes. The trip will run as scheduled unless the conditions are unsafe. We have a large covered area for our guests to stay dry and comfortable. Normally when it rains in Costa Rica it only lasts for about 10-20 minutes and the rest of the trip can proceed as usual. We also appreciate that having clouds in the area creates some of the most stunning, colorful sunsets you can imagine!
What is your cancelation policy?
You can cancel in full if you contact us at least 48 hours before the scheduled departure of your trip. If a cancellation is requested within 24 – 48 hours of departure we will rebook your trip for a different date. If you cancel within 24 hours of your trip, you will be charged in full. As the most popular catamaran sailing tour operator in the area, it is likely that we will have turned away other clients wanting a spot on the boat.
